"Fallen"

Chapter 1:
A burning sensation grew in my back. I felt as if I were on fire. As the pain increased, I let out a scream. Holding my head, I felt an icy pain spread through my head. Both the heat and ice battled bracing each other. But like oil and water, they didn’t mix. And the pain continued to increase. Holding my head in my hands, I clutched it tight. Hoping the pain would fade, it didn’t. Soon it became unbearable, and I let go of everything. I had fallen.
My wings bent together and were sealed in my back. And the pain still burned, but became less intense. I felt as if I was burning inside, but my skin was ice cold. Again I tried to open my wings, but  no matter how hard I tried they wouldn’t come back out. Falling from the sky, I felt the wind pass me. Fear built up inside me. I always had my wings and have never been afraid of falling out of the sky. Now they won’t open. Am I going to die?!  I was scared; I shut my eyes and prayed. Please let something, anything; it doesn’t have to be like a plane or anything. Just something, please. Opening my eyes, I looked down. There were houses a lot of them. But below me I spotted a lake. Closing my eyes, I braced myself for the impact. Holding my breath, I saw the water right below me. Then my skin came in contact with the water, it felt like a slap against my face. I burned, but soon it faded. Soon I was fully immersed in water. Opening my eyes, I held my breath in a tried swimming up. Something tugged me back down. Staring down, I saw my foot caught in some rubble. I couldn’t tell what it was, but I knew if I didn’t get out of it fast I would run out of breath. Bending down I tugged and pulled at it, it wouldn’t come loose. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t get out of it. Suddenly it tightened around me. My eyes widened and I noticed it wasn’t just trash. It was a trap, one to catch an animal. And it was getting tighter, pain shot through me as it clamped into my foot. Cursing, I forgot I was underwater. All my breath escaped and I began to choke.  My throat felt like it was burning, and water rushed trying to get in. Choking, the world began to blur. There was no one around, dumb of me even to think anyone would be. And the world began to fade, and black covered everywhere. But before I fell unconscious, I saw something in the distance. Arms wrapped around, and carried me out of the water. As he placed me on the ground, I felt the grass prickle my skin. A feeling of relief washed over me, and I closed my eyes. Before I noticed I was asleep.
